Bomb blast on minibus wounds 9 civilians in Karbala

Iraqi authorities say a bomb explosion aboard a minibus has wounded nine civilians in the Shi'ite holy city of Karbala. Saleem Kadhum, spokesman of the Karbala health directorate, says a bomb left in a plastic bag has exploded inside the minibus, injuring nine civilians, including a woman. Police confirm the injury toll in Friday's attack that occurred some 500 meters from the Shi'ite shrine to Imam Al-Abbas in the city center. Last week, a nearby mortar explosion killed one person and wounded two others. Kadhum says some of the injured were passengers and others were bystanders. Karbala lies 80 kilometers south of Baghdad.
