Egypt's population has risen by 15 million in the last 10 years, reaching 76.5 million in 2006, according to census results announced Tuesday.
Abu Bakr el-Gindi, head of the Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics, told a news conference that Egyptians living abroad numbered about 4 million. Those living in Egypt numbered 72.5 million, he added.
