Egypt's population said to stand at 76.5 million

Egypt's population has risen by 15 million in the last 10 years, reaching 76.5 million in 2006, according to census results announced Tuesday. Abu Bakr el-Gindi, head of the Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics, told a news conference that Egyptians living abroad numbered about 4 million. Those living in Egypt numbered 72.5 million, he added.
