The Erez crossing security was transferred to a civilian company on Thursday morning, as part of the ongoing efforts to demilitarize border crossings.
The transfer of security will be carried out gradually, and the departing IDF personnel will guide the officials replacing them.
If critical security situations arise, the responsibility at the crossing will revert back to the army.
