Egyptians voted in parliamentary elections Monday in the first big test for democracy since the fall of former president Hosni Mubarak.

The first phase of voting on Monday and Tuesday took place Cairo and Alexandria. The staggered voting system means that the election to the lower house will not be completed until January 11, 2012.
Voters picked a mixture of party lists and individual candidates.
