Gunfire at funeral of Fatah commander; 3 wounded

A gun battle erupted during the funeral of a local commander of Fatah operatives in his northern Gaza town Sunday, and hospital officials said three people were wounded. About 3,000 Fatah supporters marched in the funeral procession of Baha Abu Jarad, who headed the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a violent Fatah offshoot, in Beit Lahiya. Abu Jarad and his bodyguard were killed in an ambush blamed on gunment from the rival Hamas. During the march, gunmen fired in the air and chanted for revenge. When the procession reached the house of a local Hamas leader, a gunfight erupted, and hospital officials said three people were wounded.
