Huge Beirut rally marks Hariri assassination

Tens of thousands of flag-waving Lebanese have packed a Beirut square to remember former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri four years after he and 22 others were killed by a truck bomb. The crowd at this year's rally is also demonstrating its backing for an international tribunal that will try suspects in the Feb. 14, 2005, assassination. Hariri had close ties with Western leaders and was credited with helping rebuild Lebanon's capital after the 1975-1990 civil war. Before his death, he had tried to limit neighboring Syria's influence over Lebanon, and many accused that country's leaders of involvement in his killing. Syria denies those accusations.
