Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was expected to arrive Thursday in a hastily arranged visit to Malaysia, apparently to discuss the Middle East crisis, officials said.
The foreign minister was set to meet his Malaysian counterpart, Syed Hamid Albar, during the two-day visit, an Iranian Embassy official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
The official said he had no other details; asked if the visit was related to the Middle East crisis, he said "Yes, I think so."
A Malaysian Foreign Ministry official confirmed Mottaki's visit but also had no other details.
