Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the recent United States-Iran nuclear talks that took place in Oman were a “step forward” in a post on X/Twitter on Sunday.
“Our logic on the nuclear issue is the explicit rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty,” Pezeshkian said, adding that “the Iranian nation has always responded to respect with respect, but it does not tolerate the language of force.”
Pezeshkian also expressed his gratitude to the “efforts of friendly governments in the region” for facilitating the meeting.
'Our nuclear bomb is the power of saying no to the great powers'
Also on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who was present at the Muscat meetings, spoke to Iran’s National Congress on Foreign Policy and the History of Foreign Relations about the US-Iran talks, the semi-official Iranian Mehr News Agency reported.
Araghchi, like Pezeshkian, claimed that Iran had a right to its nuclear program and uranium enrichment and that other nations could not dictate its activities in these fields.
"No one has the right to tell us what we can or cannot have,” Araghchi said. “Diplomacy is the only way forward, but it succeeds only when it acknowledges our rights. We do not seek permission from anyone; these rights are inherent and must be respected.”
Araghchi emphasized how important resisting foreign influence is for Iran, stating that “Our nuclear bomb is the power of saying no to the great powers.”
“The military posturing of our adversaries in the region does not intimidate us,” Araghchi said. “We believe in diplomacy and logic, but we are also prepared for war. We have power.”
