Three people were killed, and 58 were lightly wounded in the United Arab Emirates after a series of Iranian strikes over Saturday and Sunday, the UAE Defense Ministry announced on Sunday afternoon.
Similarly, one person was killed, and 32 were injured after Iranian attacks in Kuwait, according to the Kuwaiti Health Ministry.
According to a released statement, since Saturday morning, the UAE Air Force and Air Defense forces have dealt with 165 ballistic missiles, 2 cruise missiles, and 541 drones so far. 152 of the ballistic missiles were destroyed, while 13 fell into the sea, and both cruise missiles were detected and destroyed, the statement continued.
However, of the 541 Iranian drones, 506 were intercepted while 35 fell inside the country, resulting in three deaths, 58 injuries, and material damage, according to the ministry. The statement emphasized that the ministry is on high alert to deal with any threats and confirmed that "the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors represents the utmost priority."
Vessel struck by unknown projectile northwest of UAE's Mina Saqr
A vessel has been struck by an unknown projectile 17 nautical miles northwest of the United Arab Emirates' Mina Saqr in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency said on Sunday.
The projectile caused a fire that has been extinguished, and the vessel intends to continue on its voyage, UKMTO added.
UKMTO receives report of incident near UAE's Sharjah
Later on Sunday, UKMTO said it had received a report of an incident 35 nautical miles west of the UAE's Sharjah.
It said an unknown projectile exploded in very close proximity to a vessel, adding that all the crew was safe.
It is the third incident the agency reported on Sunday after others in Oman, including one in the vital oil export route, the Strait of Hormuz.
