Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani, claimed that the US and Israel had destroyed nearly 10,000 civilian sites since the beginning of Operation Roaring Lion, in a speech given during a media stakeout of the UN Security Council on Tuesday.

The destruction, Iravani claimed, included "7,943 residential homes, 1,617 commercial and service centers, 32 medical and pharmaceutical facilities, 65 schools and educational institutions, 13 Red Cross buildings, and several energy supply facilities." He also stated that Israeli and US strikes had killed over 1,300 civilians.

These figures were not verified by independent sources.

Iravani also condemned a recent attack by Israel on a fuel storage facility in Tehran, which released clouds of toxic smoke, eventually leading to highly acidic rain.

"According to the Iranian Red Christian Society, the explosion caused severe air pollution and serious health risk for
civilians," Iravani said, "Especially children, women and elderly, and those with critical health conditions."

US accused of attacking Iranian freshwater desalination plant

Iravani also accused the United States of deliberately targeting a freshwater desalination plant, putting thousands of Iranian civilians at risk.

"Yesterday, the president of the United States openly expressed pride in the destruction of civilian infrastructure, Iran's navy, and killing of Iranian sailors. Their intention is clear: To terrorize civilians, massacre innocent people, and cause maximum destruction and suffering," the ambassador said.

"We reiterate our call on all member states to condemn this aggression," Iravani concluded, "And take urgent action to stop this criminal war against Iranian people. a war that poses a serious threat to regional and international peace and security."
