Iran would use new weapons and target locations not previously attacked if the United States launched a new offensive against it, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi said on Monday, according to the Fars News Agency.
"If a new aggression occurs, we will certainly change the weaponry and the geography of the war," Mohebbi said, adding that Tehran was prepared for a prolonged conflict.
Mohebbi did not provide further details regarding what new weapons would be used or what locations Iranian forces would target, but said “the world will be astounded” by them.
Mohebbi told Fars News that Israel and the US were already “defeated in this war” and continued by saying that “one of the areas of the United States’ defeat is its failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.”
US President Donald Trump said he would “probably” be open to meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the United Nations General Assembly this week, according to a Fox News report.
Iran 'better behave'
Trump also said he was still deciding how to proceed with the war, saying he would consider either “wiping Iran out, letting them rot economically, or making a deal.”
“My question is, if and when do I blow the entire nation up,” he added.
“They [Iran] better behave,” Trump warned.
Both Trump and his vice president JD Vance said they did not believe the war with Iran would end until after the US midterm elections in November.
