Iraq: Car bombs hit Vatican mission, churches

Car bombs exploded in a coordinated spree of attacks Sunday outside the Vatican mission and at least four churches in Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk as people gathered for afternoon Mass, killing at least three Iraqis and wounding nine, police said. It was not immediately clear who was behind the attacks, which took place within about 20 minutes. "We condemn this attack as all the world does and we pray for these people so that their hearts will be enlightened," Chaldean Patriarch Emmanuel Delly, who was about to arrive at one of the targeted Baghdad churches before the blast, told Italian news agency Apcom.
