Iraqi police: 4 gunmen killed in clashes north of Baghdad

Gunmen battled Iraqi police north of Baghdad early Wednesday, and four people were killed, police said.
Authorities said the gunmen attacked a police patrol in downtown Muqdadiyah, about 90 kilometers north of Baghdad, around 7 a.m.
All the dead were believed to be insurgents, and there were no reports of police casualties.
Meanwhile, a police officer was killed in a drive-by shooting in central Kut, 160 kilometers southeast of the Iraqi capital, police said. The victim was shot dead on his way to work around 10 a.m., police said.
