Jordan's Parliament on Sunday denounced the execution of Saddam Hussein and asked God to bless his soul by the reading the first chapter of the Quran.
Abdul-Hadi al-Majali, speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, said the ousted Iraqi leader's execution was not considerate to millions of Arabs and Muslims because he was hung just before the start of the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, the official Petra news agency reported.
"The issue seemed intentional in choosing the timing, the place and the circumstances that aimed at harming the Arab and Muslim feelings in a malicious way on the first day of al-Adha," al-Majali said, according to the news agency.
Al-Majali said Saddam's execution was carried out with hatred and sectarianism and in violation of all the religious jurisdictions and urged all Iraqi people - Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds - to reject sectarian violence and protect their national unity.
