LAF: Gunmen hiding among civilians in camp

Lebanon's army on Wednesday accused al-Qaida-inspired militants still barricaded in a refugee camp in northern Lebanon of hiding among Palestinian civilians trapped in the settlement and confiscating humanitarian aid sent to them. In a statement, the army urged Palestinians inside the Nahr el-Bared camp near the northern port city of Tripoli to persuade the Fatah Islam militants to turn themselves in. "The army command renews its call on our Palestinian brothers inside the camp to take a courageous and responsible stand by confronting this terrorist organization and persuading those gunmen to surrender," it said. Low-level fighting between the army and Fatah Islam fighters continued Wednesday, with bursts of artillery shells and occasional gunfire reverberating from the camp.
