Obama wants to help Iraq settle outstanding issues

US President Barack Obama said Tuesday that his presence in Iraq might help settle some unresolved issues before national elections in December. Among those issues are power-sharing between Shi'ites and Sunnis, and how to distribute oil revenues. On his first visit to the Iraq war-zone as commander in chief, Obama said it was important for the US to encourage Iraq's leaders to resolve the issues, and that he thought his presence there could help do that. Officials said the president planned to speak with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, and was set to address US troops.
