PA may seek to bury renowned Palestinian poet Darwish in the Galilee

The Palestinian Authority may ask Israel for permission to bury renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish in the Galilee, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday. Abbas met former Meretz chairman Yossi Beilin in Ramallah and told him that if such a request were submitted, the PA would ask Israel to authorize the travel of several Palestinian officials to the funeral. Darwish, 67, died at a hospital in Houston, Texas Saturday evening following complications from an open heart surgery.
