Syria is behind the escalation in factional fighting Gaza over the past few days, the Kuwaiti newspaper A-Seyassah reported Thursday.
According to the report, Syrian Vice President Farouk a-Shara instructed Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal to turn up the heat on Fatah in order to show Arab leaders that Syrian President Bashar Assad was the one who determined the situation in the Palestinian Authority.
There was no immediate response to the report from Hamas.
