Terror groups deny agreement for truce with Israel

Main Palestinian terror groups disputed a claim by Palestinian officials of an agreement to halt rocket fire if Israel calls off its Gaza offensive, but the midnight (2100 GMT) deadline passed without renewed violence after a day of relative calm. Senior Palestinian officials said on Saturday that the rocket attacks would end if Israel stopped launching raids into Gaza. After an offensive that has lasted more than three weeks, the IDF said it was aware of the internal Palestinian cease-fire contacts and would wait to see what happens. However, three terror groups - the Aksa Martyrs' Brigades, Islamic Jihad and the Hamas - denied that a cease-fire had been agreed upon, saying that their rocket attacks were a response to Israeli aggression.
