Water pumps transferred to flooded Gaza town

The Gaza Liaison Administration transferred two float water pumps through the Karni cargo crossing into the Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning to assist the Palestinians in pumping waste water that flooded a village near Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. The pumps were supplied by Mekorot, the national water company. The administration, under the command of Col. Nir Press, was also conducting talks with the World Bank - which was part of a consortium that financed the construction of the waste water pool that overflowed on Tuesday - as well as with the Israeli water commission, to come up with immediate long-term solutions to prevent an ecological disaster in the Gaza Strip.
