Zahar reportedly gives Abbas offer to mend Hamas-Fatah relations

Hamas has given Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas a proposal on how to end the enmity between the group and Abbas's Fatah, Army Radio quoted an Al Quds report Tuesday morning.
Hamas and Fatah have been staunch foes since Hamas took over the Gaza Strip violently in June.
Reportedly, the offer was given to Hamas Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar in Gaza, and he transferred it to Abbas. Abbas, slated to meet Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem on Tuesday, has yet to respond to the proposal.
Abbas's position since June has been to eschew any dialogue with Hamas until the Islamist group apologizes for taking over Gaza and returns control of the Strip to the Palestinian Authority.
