Court convicts Ramle resident Jack Hajaj according to plea bargain in which he agreed to plead guilty to all charges in indictment.

A man found guilty of sexually assaulting four elderly female patients in a nursing home was sent to prison for eight years on Monday.The Central District Court in Petah Tikva convicted Ramle resident Jack Hajaj according to a plea bargain in which he agreed to plead guilty to all charges in the indictment.According to the indictment, the abuse took place between 2006 and 2010 when Hajaj was a nurse at a Lod nursing home.Hajaj took “every opportunity” to abuse his victims, all elderly women aged 74 to 89, and all suffering from advanced senile dementia, which severely impaired their cognitive functioning.
Judge Tsvi Dotan said Hajaj had committed “ugly, severe and despicable crimes” and had “exploited the fact that his victims were older women in poor health and with cognitive impairment that prevented them from giving free consent.”Hajaj also “exploited the families of those older women, who had placed their trust in the nursing home and in caregivers like the defendant.”In a separate charge, Hajaj was also convicted of sexually assaulting a minor aged 14. The teenager, a neighbor of Hajaj, was subjected to several assaults between 2001 and 2002.Hajaj, who admitted all the charges against him, expressed remorse for his actions and asked for treatment during his prison sentence. Dotan ordered that a course of treatment be made available for Hajaj.
