Bar-Lev resigns, PID closes sexual harassment case

Justice Ministry: “Sufficient evidence” had been gathered to back up allegations of harassment, but Bar-Lev apologized to Dr. Orly Innes.

The Police Investigations Department has closed a sexual harassment case against former southern police head Cmdr. Uri Bar-Lev, after he apologized to the woman who filed the complaint and resigned from the police.
“Sufficient evidence” had been gathered to back up allegations of harassment, but Bar-Lev had come forward to apologize to Dr. Orly Innes, a Public Security Ministry employee, the Justice Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Bar-Lev, who has denied the allegations against him in the past, said he would resign from the police immediately.

The Attorney-General’s Office announced it was closing the case. Attorney- General Yehuda Weinstein said that after Bar-Lev had taken full responsibility for his acts and resigned from the police, and after consulting with the victim and the heads of the Justice Ministry, he had decided to close the case once Bar-Lev apologized.
