A pedestrian was killed and her one-year-old grandchild was severely injured by a vehicle on the corners of Remez and Sderot Binyamin in Netanya on Monday.
Emergency services provided lifesaving support to the 60 year old woman, but had to pronounce her death at the site. Her grandchild, who was injured when its stroller was trapped under the car, was evacuated to Laniado Medical Center in Netanya with severe head trauma.
The 70-year-old driver was detained by police for questioning. The car had gone off-course after an accident and hit a number of pedestrians on a traffic island, striking the woman and her grandchild as she was crossing the street. The car hit a number of other pedestrians, one who sustained medium injuries, said emergency services.
Paramedics were still providing first aid on scene.
