The number of female mayors in Israel remained at four on Wednesday after the results of Tuesday’s mayoral election in Arad were announced.

Arad Mayor Tali Ploskov was reelected with 55 percent of the vote, defeating candidates Nisan Ben-Hamo, who received 41%, and Moshe Edri, who received 4%.
The other three female mayors are Miriam Feinberg in Netanya, Lizzy Delricce in Ganei Tikva and Sigal Moran in the Bnei Shimon Regional Council.
Ploskov received help on election day from 10 Yisrael Beytenu MKs who came to the city to help her. She thanked the residents of Arad on her Facebook page for voting for her.
“We awoke this morning to a strong Arad,” Ploskov wrote.
“Thank you for reiterating your trust in me. I will continue to lead Arad toward success. I have no doubt that many good years are on the way.”
Ben-Hamo thanked the Yesh Atid party for supporting him.
His faction won one more seat than Ploskov’s on the city council.
“As I promised, we are here and we will stay here to serve the public in Arad and serve them loyally in the city council,” Ben-Hamo wrote his supporters on Facebook.
