The trial in the double murder of Nurit and Noah Maoz continued in the Jerusalem District Court on Wednesday with the testimony of Professor Yehuda Hiss, head of the L. Greenberg National Institute of Forensic Medicine, also known as the Abu Kabir Forensics Institute.Hiss said that based on the defense marks on the victims’ bodies, he believed that more than one attacker had carried out the murder. If there is just one attacker, victims will usually have defense marks on one forearm, but the Maozes had defense marks on both forearms, Hiss testified.Daniel Maoz, 28, who has a known gambling addiction, is accused of stabbing his parents to death on August 14 in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem. Daniel’s blood was found at the scene, and his gambling associates testified that on the night of the murder, he arrived at their apartment in a disheveled state with blood spattered on his clothes. However, the defense has claimed that the murders were actually carried out by Daniel’s twin brother Nir – although Daniel has admitted to being present at the scene.Daniel and Nir have identical DNA because they are identical twins.Nir, who was investigated three times by the police, has vehemently denied the charges.
