Party leaders pay tribute to MK Marina Solodkin

PM Netanyahu and MKs pay tribute to former MK Marina Solodkin who died in Riga Saturday night.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu paid tribute to former Yisrael B'Aliya, Likud and Kadima MK Marina Solodkin who died on Saturday, saying, "She was a principled public representative whose ear was attuned to the problems of Israeli citizens."
"With modesty and integrity she worried about the welfare of citizens especially caring for the problems of the new olim," The PM added. "I liked her and valued her very much and she will be missed by all."
Former MK Marina Solodkin was found dead in her hotel room in Riga, Latvia, Saturday night.
61, who had given a speech at an anti-fascism conference in Riga Saturday, returned to her hotel room after feeling unwell, where her body was found later that day. Cause
of death and when her body will be returned to Israel was unknown as of Saturday night.
Kadima party leader Shaul Mofaz and former Kadima turned Hatnua party leader Tzipi Livni also paid tribue to Solodkin on their Facebook pages this morning.
Recalling Solodkin's time as Deputy Minister of Absorption,  Livni described her as "A smart woman with a huge heart for the plight of immigrants," and  "special  to the fabric of our lives," as someone who listened to and resolved distress on a more personal level. Shaul Mofaz remembers her as "a woman who dedicated her life to action for the public, for equal opportunities and social justice," and who "loved Israel and acted to the best of her ability to make this wonderful country a better place, more fair and more just."Solodkin leaves behind a husband and two children.
