A 20-year-old IDF conscript who claimed Arab youths had stabbed him in the leg in Jerusalem Thursday morning fabricated the incident, police said hours after the alleged “terrorist attack” was reported.According to police, the soldier claimed one of the alleged assailants had knifed him in the leg at approximately 8:30 a.m. in the capital’s Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood. Following extensive police questioning, however, it was determined that the soldier, who sustained a light injury, had made up the story.“After evidence and testimony were taken at the scene, it became clear to police officers that his initial claim was incorrect,” said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld. “There were a lot of elements to his story that simply didn’t make sense.”Rosenfeld said it remained unclear why the young man, whom Magen David Adom subsequently took to Hadassah University Medical Center at Jerusalem’s Mount Scopus, had misled police.Asked if the soldier would be arrested for filing a false police report, Rosenfeld said the decision would come after further questioning.“We’ll see what happens as the investigation continues,” he said.Jerusalem Post staff contributed to this report.
