Traffic delays likely to continue during Obama visit

Routes in Jerusalem will be closed until Friday, parking is prohibited in many streets in the capital.

Major traffic delays and interruptions are expected to continue in the capital as US President Barack Obama’s three-day visit continues.
According to the Jerusalem Municipality, the route from Keren Hayesod Junction (Plumar Square) to Agron Junction (Hameches Square) will be closed to traffic until Friday.

Residents of the area will have to present an identity card along with proof of address in order to park.
Parking is prohibited on the following streets: Admoni, King David, Ramban, Ruppin, Kaplan, Ben-Zvi, Shazar, Hanasi, Hashishi, Samuel Weiss, Keren Hayesod, Smolenskin, Arlosoroff and Jabotinsky.
Parking is also prohibited at Hameches Square, Agron Road, Paris Square and Museum Row.
The Israel Museum and Jerusalem International Convention Center parking lots will be closed to the public as well.
The light rail is expected to operate as normal.
Police will deploy more than 5,000 officers to secure each day of the presidential visit.
They will join large deployments of Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) officers and soldiers, who will work along with Obama’s security detail.
