Petah Tikva police arrested a 29-year-old man on Tuesday night after he called for the hanging of Yesh Atid party chairman Yair Lapid and his associates in a post on his Facebook page.
The man's threat included a reference to Purim, which begins on Sunday, saying "at the beginning of the month of Adar we will destroy all of our left-wing enemies, including Yair Lapid and his friends, and we will hang them like we hung Haman and his sons."
After receiving a complaint about the post, police sent detectives to the man's house in Petah Tikva, where he was arrested.
On Wednesday he will be brought for a remand extension at the Petah Tikva Magistrate's court.
