Saturday Night Live took its first swing on Saturday night at Ivanka Trump since the election, with a spoof commercial featuring American-Jewish actress Scarlett Johansson playing the US president’s daughter.The commercial featured a scent, called “Complicit” and was partnered with the tagline: “Complicit, a feminist and advocate, a champion for women, but like how?” As Johansson struts around in a glamorous dress, the voiceover declares: “She’s loyal, devoted, but probably should have bounced after the whole Access Hollywood bus thing,” referencing her father’s recorded comments on assaulting women. “Complicit,” the ad parody ends. “The fragrance for the woman who can stop all this... but won’t. Also available in a cologne for Jared.”During a segment later in the show on “Weekend Update,” Alex Moffat played Jewish US Sen. Al Franken (himself a former SNL writer and performer).Franken sat alongside Attorney-General Jeff Sessions, played by Kate McKinnon.Franken has said that Sessions may have perjured himself in his responses to Franken’s questions at his confirmation hearing.On the show, McKinnon, playing Sessions, said, “People don’t realize this, but Al and I are actually great friends.” She said she took him white-water rafting, and in return, “Al showed me Jew stuff.” (“We had lunch at a deli, Jeff,” Moffat as Franken replied.) Though it was the show’s first time showcasing Ivanka herself, in February, the opening skit featured Alec Baldwin playing US President Donald Trump happy to see that Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, had left the White House to observe Shabbat.The skit opened with Baldwin asking an aide, “Another thing, about my daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared, they always keep me so calm and make sure I don’t do anything crazy...So, quick question – are they gone?” When the aide replied that “Yes, they don’t work on Shabbat,” Trump replied, “Perfect.When the Jews are away, the goys will play.”He then called in his adviser Steve Bannon, the former Breitbart editor who has been called a leader of the alt-right and is believed to have been behind some of Trump’s more controversial moves.
