A UK conservative fire-brand caused uproar on social media Monday after sharing a message from a neo-Nazi Twitter account, according to the Evening Standard. During a broadcast on LBC Radio, columnist and television personality Katie Hopkins was deliberating on the topic of ethnic identity when a caller phoned in to say that she was coming across as racist. “I genuinely believe 'racist' as a word has been used so much,' Hopkins told the listener in response. “I'm sorry for the word racist in a way,' she continued, adding 'It's become used so much, it's like a regular word now, it's lost all meaning to me.” Following the broadcast, Hopkins tweeted audio of the exchange, writing: 'Call me racist. I don't care. I will stand up for white women being raped because you're scared to offend Muslims.' But the real outrage didn't ensue until Hopkins retweeted a message from an account named AntiJuden SS, which featured a Nazi swastika on its avatar, which read: “Now that is the way it should be told.” @GodofwarTyr @KTHopkins @LBC you're retweeting a tweet from this account? Quick way to lose credibility - unless u really are a Nazi?! — (((Jo Offord))) (@joofford) January 2, 2017 Soon after, a torrent of condemnation was flung at the pundit, accusing Hopkins of 'joining hands with Nazis,' as one tweet read. Another social media user wondered: “You want to retweet from someone with THAT symbol as their avatar?!?' @GodofwarTyr @KTHopkins @LBC you want to retweet from someone with THAT symbol as their avatar?!? #crazierthanithought — Graham Crewe (@grahamcrewe71) January 2, 2017 Some of Hopkins' fans even appeared disappointed, with one suggesting she had 'ruined all [her] good work to date.' “Respected your point of view until that Nazi retweet,” added another.
