An 18-year-old contestant at the Miss Grand Thailand 2026 Preliminary round turned an onstage mishap into a display of composure that electrified the audience and ricocheted across social media. During her self-introduction, Kamolwan Chanago’s temporary false teeth veneers detached and fell out. She turned her back to the cameras, calmly reattached them without using her hands, and resumed speaking, though her diction grew less clear. Spurred by applause, she moved confidently down the runway, completed her rampwalk, posed in a shimmering evening gown, and mustered a steady smile for the cameras.
Video of the sequence was quickly amassed millions of views. Some observers initially mistook her braces for false teeth, while others called her a “true queen” and highlighted her “killer look” recovery as she finished the walk.
"Better than most of us"
“She handled this better than most of us handle a bad hair day. Is this the most iconic pageant moment ever?” one attendee said. Another added, “Kamolwan Chanago’s composure was honestly iconic,” E! Online reported.
Nawat Itsaragrisil, President of Miss Grand Thailand and Miss Grand International and also Vice President for Asia and Oceania within the Miss Universe Organisation, warned contestants not to be complacent. He has previously confronted Miss Mexico, Melissa Flores Bosch, for missing a sponsor shoot. In November, Miss Universe winner Victoria Theilvig lead a walkout from an event in Bangkok in solidarity with Flores after Nawat publicly reprimanded her on camera, The Sun reported.
