The revelation came during an interview on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Cohen read aloud a viewer question asking the supermodel if she converted to Judaism before the wedding.
“I joined the tribe, mazel,” Kloss said, raising her glass in a toast.
“Nice, you’re a nice Jewish girl!” Cohen exclaimed in response.
Kloss wed Joshua Kushner, the brother of Jared Kushner, in a ceremony in New York last year. The pair had dated for several years, and many reports indicated that Kloss had converted like Ivanka Trump did before her nuptials to Jared. Kloss, however, had never confirmed the reports, and dodged questions on the topic in previous interviews. Kloss and Kushner visited Israel together last April, stopping by the Dead Sea and Jerusalem during their trip.
A separate viewer asked Kloss who she had the hardest time hiding details of her intimate wedding from. Kloss replied that “my wedding was really special and all the people nearest and dearest to me knew.”
The supermodel and new host of Project Runway was not asked any questions about her high-profile brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Kloss, who runs the scholarship program Kode with Klossy for young girls interested in computer programming, is notoriously tight lipped about her personal life and her husband’s family. Kloss and Joshua Kushner are both known to have liberal politics, in contrast to their family in the White House.
“Josh and I share a lot of the same liberal values that guide our lives and the things we stand for,” Kloss said in an interview with Vogue last year. “I’ve chosen to be with the man I love despite the complications.”
