Driver charged for allegedly aiding assailants in US Consulate attack
Police say a man has been charged for allegedly driving three gunmen who carried out an attack outside the US consulate in Istanbul. Police say a court issued the charges and released the man Monday pending another court hearing. They did not say what the charges were. The three attackers died in a shootout with police after they drove to the consulate on July 9 and opened fire on police guards, killing three officers. Another man was charged with membership in a terror organization. It is not clear what role he is alleged to have played.
