Olmert talks with Annan, Chirac on Hamas policy
Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spoke separately Saturday with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and French President Jacques Chirac and outlined Israel's approach to dealing with Hamas' victory in the Palestinian elections, Olmert's office said. Olmert told Annan that Israel stood by three strict principles with regards to Hamas: it must disarm, annul its charter, which calls for the destruction of Israel, and accept all the agreements signed by the Palestinian Authority with Israel, according to the statement. Olmert said the position of the international community was crucial in dealing with the Hamas' rise to power.
