Iran wants meeting with Europe on nuclear program
01/29/2006
Iran has asked to meet British, French and German negotiators in Brussels on Monday to discuss the standoff over Tehran's nuclear program; EU and British officials said Sunday. Germany, France, Britain and the US have called for Iran's referral to the UN Security Council, a move that could lead to sanctions. China and Russia remain unconvinced. EU and British officials speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the discussions confirmed that senior officials from Britain, France and Germany would hold talks with Iran's deputy nuclear negotiator, Javad Vaeidi, at Iran's request on Monday.
