Nationalistic motive examined after Ashdod man's body found near his abandoned taxi in Gan Yavne.
Police have asked the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) to help in a murder investigation opened on Monday after the body of a taxi driver was found near his abandoned cab in Gan Yavne. Initial examinations indicated that 55-year-old Gregory Rabinovitch, from Ashdod, was murdered, police said. Rabinovitch had no criminal background and his family told police he had no feud or conflict with anyone, a police source told The Jerusalem Post. "The nationalistic motive is being examined, because his family has said they do not suspect anyone of his murder," the source added. His wife reported Rabinovitch missing on Monday morning. "Searchers then quickly honed in on the abandoned taxi, and his body was discovered soon afterwards," the source said.
