Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that the Jewish people were “surging forward toward the future,” while also embracing the past.

“It is not by coincidence that we are in this country,” said the prime minister at the Kiryat Ata Municipality's Maimouna festivities. “We have returned here in order to build and to be built. This is the special destiny of the Jewish People.”

“Here we will stay and here we will build our future, both by deepening the roots of the past and by growing branches such as those that I saw last night at Maimouna festivities in Or Akiva and here today in Kiryat Ata,” he continued. “We are surging forward as a regional economic power and a global technological power."
