Holyland suspect Simhayoff appointed J'lem deputy mayor

City Councilor Eli Simhayoff (Shas) was appointed deputy mayor of Jerusalem by the city's councilors, despite the suspicions looming of him receiving bribes in the Holyland real-estate scandal.

Earlier on Thursday, Jerusalem’s legal adviser attorney Yossi Havilio advised Mayor Nir Barkat to not appoint Simhayoff as his deputy, since it could maim the public's faith in the municipality.
