MK Nachman Shai (Kadima) canceled a meeting planned between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and senior officials from his party, after the Palestinians refused to allow a West Bank resident to attend.
The Israeli delegation originally included Kadima MKs, mayors, activists and local council members, among them the head of the Alfei Menashe Council, Eliezer Hasda’i. PA officials, however, informed Shai that they would refuse to meet with Hasda’i, as he lives in the West Bank. In response, Shai canceled the meeting altogether late Thursday evening.

“I oppose boycotts of any type,” said Shai. “Kadima includes members who are Israelis living in Judea and Samaria. They too are allowed, and deserve to participate in conversation and dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians.”
Shai’s office said that the meeting was originally scheduled at the request of PA officials and was supposed to be held on Sunday.
