Twenty-three Israelis who shouted racist epithets and scuffled with police at a Jerusalem soccer match Sunday night were detained for questioning, police said. Beitar Jerusalem soccer fans shouted "Death to the Arabs" in a match against the Israeli-Arab Bnei Sakhnin team, while two of them assaulted police officers, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. By the end of the match, 19 Beitar Jerusalem fans were arrested along with four Sakhnin fans. The Jerusalem soccer matches are periodically marked by racist remarks, nasty jeers and even fights.
