Six Arab-Israeli youths are arrested in connection of the shooting death of a 51-year-old Jewish resident of the city.
Police have arrested six Arab- Israeli youths on suspicion that they are linked to the shooting death of a 51-year-old man walking his dog in Ramle on Sunday night.

The victim, George Sa’ado, a Ramle resident and father of five, was shot in the stomach. Police are investigating the possibility that it was a nationalistically-motivated incident. The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) is also involved in the investigation.

Police suspect Sa’ado met the suspects on the street while out on a night walk with his dog, and a verbal confrontation ensued.

After receiving reports of shots fired, Magen David Adom paramedics found Sa’ado lying on the street, and rushed him to the Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in Tzrifin but were unable to revive him.

Ramle mayor Yoel Lavi said he doubted the shooting was linked to a nationalistic motive. He told Army Radio on Monday that relations between Jews and Arabs in the city were “very good,” adding that that both communities live in harmony with another.

“I think police will find out in a few hours that this is a criminal incident,” Lavi said.

Police have obtained a courtordered media ban preventing further details from being published on the investigation.
