MK Regev urges PM to adopt rent control law
Likud MK Miri Regev called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Wednesday to urgently adopt a rent control bill that she proposed a year ago in order to help tackle the country's social ills.

Her calls for rent control came the same day Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer submitted the central bank's annual report, which she said highlighted Israel's growing social disparities.

If these social gaps are not dealt with immediately, it will cause "real harm to the country's social strength," Regev said in a written statement, noting last summer's mass social protests that brought hundreds of thousands of Israelis to the streets demanding social justice.

"While it true that we have a stable and growing economy, the general public does not feel it," she said.
