Report: Israel to build over 1000 e. Jerusalem homes

Israel issued a tender for 300 housing units beyond the green line in the Ramot neighborhood in east Jerusalem, Channel 10  reported on Wednesday.
The tender is a result of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's authorization in November of 2012 for the building of 3000 housing units in the West Bank in reaction to the Palestinian Authority's successful move to upgrade their status at the UN General Assembly to that of non-member observer state, Channel 10 reported.   Channel 10 also reported on Wednesday that the Construction and Housing Ministry had begun marketing of another development in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo consisting of 797 housing units.
The report presented a ministry document that called for the the "urgent completion of planning required for execution" of development and saying that future marketing would be published in the coming weeks.
"At a time when there are efforts to renew peace negotiations, there is already someone trying to prevent their success from the outset with provocative building in east Jerusalem," Hagit Ofran a Peace Now activist told Channel 10.
