16 Lebanese wounded during war head to Italy
Sixteen Lebanese women and children wounded during the war between Hizbullah and Israel left Beirut Thursday on a private plane bound for Italy, where they would undergo treatment, airport officials said. The wounded were accompanied by family members and an Italian medical team of doctors and nurses. They were due to receive treatment in Italy's Lombardio region, near the border with Switzerland, at the expense of the Italian government, officials said. Lebanon's health minister, Muhammed Jawad Khalifeh, told reporters that the arrangement was an initiative from residents of the Lombario region, as an expression of solidarity with Lebanon. He said the wounded were suffering from various injuries, some with severe burns.
