Police search for leads in abandoned baby case

Police investigators continued Sunday morning their searches for the parents of a one-year-old baby who was found abandoned Saturday in the trash room of an apartment building in Holon. The baby was discovered lying in a stroller with water, food and a change of clothes placed beside her. The baby was hospitalized in good condition and was handed over to social services. Police forces interviewed neighbors in the area where the baby was found to try to find out if there was anybody in the neighborhood who had seemed incapable or overwhelmed by the task of raising a baby. "We are holding searches in neighboring buildings, but nobody knows that baby. We will continue the investigation in other directions to see if anybody recognized the baby's possessions," said the head of the family violence unit in the Ayalon Division of the Israel Police, Irit Amar.
