Kaniak accepts post of IPS chief warden

Deputy Police Chief Cmdr. Benny Kaniak told Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter on Tuesday that he would accept the position of Israel Prisons Service chief. Kaniak would replace former Chief Warden Yaakov Ganot, who has accepted the position of Israel Police chief. Dichter will bring the decision before the committee responsible for approval of appointments to senior positions in the civil service, headed by retired Supreme Court justice Ya'akov Turkel. Afterwards, the decision will be submitted for government approval.
