Farah Pahlavi, former Iranian empress and mother to Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi encouraged anti-Iranian regime protesters and mourned the deaths and injuries that resulted from the regime’s violent crackdown in an X/Twitter post on Thursday.
“The sorrow of the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and friends of the victims and the injured of the recent events in Iran has been with me,” Pahlavi wrote.
“From the bottom of my heart and with my entire being, I consider myself a partner in their grief and suffering, and I wish all the wounded a swift recovery and a return to the embrace of their families.”
She stated that the thought of “thousands of the sons and daughters of this land still remain in prisons, enduring pain and injustice day after day” is “constantly” with her.
Despite living in exile between France and the United States, the former empress shared that she takes pride in “every single freedom-loving Iranian who stands with courage and hope for a bright future” against the current regime.
“I firmly believe that light will triumph over darkness and that our Iran will one day, not too far away, reach freedom, peace, and dignity,” she added in a hopeful conclusion to her message.
Reza Pahlavi reiterated calls for 'Global Day of Action' anti-regime protests
Meanwhile, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi shared a similar message of support and raised a call to action directed at the protestors in his own Thursday social media statement.
“My brave compatriots in Iran, you have shown through your gatherings…, through your nightly chants, and through your courageous graffiti that the Islamic Republic, even with its savage massacres, has failed to break your determination to reclaim Iran,” Pahlavi began.
He reiterated a previous call for anti-regime protestors and the global Iranian community to mark a “Global Day of Action” on Saturday with demonstrations beginning at 8 p.m. local time.
“Take to the streets to make the voice of the great and united Iranian nation heard around the world and to secure broader international support for the Lion and Sun Revolution of Iran,” Pahlavi encouraged. “Raise your voices from your homes and rooftops: chant your slogans, shout your demands, and demonstrate your unity.”
“With an unbreakable will, we will triumph over this murderous regime,” Pahlavi said, pledging to remain by the protestors' sides until “final victory” is reached.
Saturday’s demonstrations will mark 40 days since the height of the regime’s violent crackdown in early January.
According to the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, at least 6,506 protesters have been confirmed as killed by regime forces as of Wednesday, with 216 of those killed having been under the age of 18 at the time of their deaths.
