04/05/2007
Post office workers are expected to begin a partial strike on Thursday. The workers are striking against a refusal by the government to reduce postal charges, which will enable the Israeli Postal Authority to compete with market prices. The workers will not transfer payments to government offices, including the Social Security Office and income tax offices. Workers have threatened to continue the strike if their demands are not met. In a related matter, "Dan" bus service drivers will discontinue lines from Tel Aviv to Holon and Ariel in reaction to a delay in a salary increase.
